Poem of the day

Written on Sunday - apologies, no energy today for poetry writing :-(

Points of Contact
In youth smiling,
I remember the thought
that knees pointing
across a room
would elicit the same
reaction by ap-point-ment.
later, age wizened, we together sat
mismatched socks propped
on the same corner
of the couch coffee table
Mine first, then yours followed
Dared by initiative,
egged by my hopeful thoughts
Twenty little soldiers
lining up on cotton fields
each daring the other to attack
Spurred by a kind of insolence
I dared not let the tension rise
and feigned to ignore
the tender advances
being made on the table
V shaped, sharpened, to a point
Daring, double-daring
triple treating our little feet
TV tuning our timing
and willing it’s end
Ah feet,
how well I now know
clad, unclad, shared and bared
and yet, in bed, socked.
