Welcome to my new blog. Spurred by having a good time at a local open mic poetry night, and having two of my poems published in a small anthology by Stairwell Books, I thought I'd encourage myself to write more poetry and put them on a blog. If you enjoy them, let me know!
So for this first post I thought I'd tell you about "frisson" - this is a short collection of erotic poetry brought out by Stairwell books, a small publishers owned by Rose Drew and Alan Gillott, who also run an open mic night monthly in the Exhibition Hotel, Bootham, York.
Here is a pic of the book:

The remit when applying to be included in the book implied that the poems couldn't be too steamy, so I took it as a challenge to write about the "everyday" erotic - i.e. things which during every day interaction may cause a certain yearning which may not be actual arousal, but are certainly erotic.
Anyway - here's one of the poems that I had published and that I read at the open mic night:
Making contactBy Edward Caine
It's those first momentswhen the trajectory of your fingerspierce the inner sanctumof someone elses' space
That uncertain, guilty pleasureas you first make contactinto unknown territory
A tingle, a tentative touchfor the nervous, a pokea stroke, a giggle,a tickle
for the strong, the plunge,a pat, a rough hug,a squeeze, a slap
Then, growing confidenceenjoying warmth, comfortand the joyous feel of fleshpressed on flesh
warmth, breeding warmthcoursing, excited, throughyour shivering selvespromising more
and, rarely givinginstead separates youwordless, lingering, guilty pleasuregladly spent, heavenly sent,a moment shared.-------------------------
